The first ever BKU Awards took place on Thursday 25th July 2015 in the star studded surroundings of London’s No.1 party venue, Madame Tussaud’s. Over 200 members of the industry turned out to celebrate success and network with peers and colleagues.

BKU Awards 2015

There was only one way of getting into the BKU Awards and that was via the Spirit of London ride, which guests loved! Seated in iconic ‘black cabs’ they were taken on a nostalgic tour of London’s lively past before being dropped back in the present at a glittering Champagne reception, sponsored by Claygate. They were also treated to a picture with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the photo booth, while catching a glimpse of other famous faces around the venue!

Once seated in the World Stage Room, guests were quick to make use of their selfie sticks sponsored by Twyford, fresh from the news that a ‘selfie of the night’ competition was taking place on twitter @BKUmagazine. The winner was sent a bottle of champagne from BKU magazine and an Aromatherapy Associates luxury pamper pack, courtesy of Twyford!

Virtual Worlds by Logicom sponsored the host, London’s no.1 drivetime host Greg Burns. He kept the audience entertained with his usual charm and wit throughout! A few awards were presented before dinner, with the rest following after, culminating in the Lifetime Achievement Award which went to TK Component’s much loved managing director, Tom Kelly.

Rowe Fitted Interiors were delighted to be recognised on the night by receiving Highly Commended Kitchen Showroom of the Year – sponsored by Blanco

Glen Dimplex Home Appliances nominated the event’s charity, Anthony Nolan, for which funds were raised throughout the evening. Anthony Nolan matches incredible individuals willing to donate their blood stem cells or bone marrow to people who desperately need lifesaving transplants. It also educates young people about the lifesaving difference they can make by joining its register and conducts groundbreaking research.

A charity ‘heads & tails’ took place at the end of the evening, with Nick Hall from Frontline Bathrooms winning two Club Wembley Bobby Moore tickets, including a three course meal, wine and champagne.

A DJ then took over for the evening, with guests enjoying a free bar until midnight before exiting via the Chamber of Horrors!
